A Friend Recently Challenged Me
Actually, she challenged this blog and why I would be its editor.
She knows I have other blogs aimed toward health and wellness.
She also knows that in the last few years I have been exercising, try to stay fit, and have lost 71lbs.
“So, what is it, are we losing belly fat by eating right or increasing waist size by eating fast food?”
Actually, the two are not mutually exclusive.
Oh, to be certain, a steady diet of hamburgers and fries, with a large soft drink and unlimite free refills is not good for your health.
But that does not mean that you must always avoid those items. It means moderation.
On both of my health and wellness blogs, I endorse some resource to help folks lose weight while still enjoying the kinds of food you find at a fast food place.
Click over the losing belly fast site listed above and join my ezine list there and you’ll learn more about what I am talking about.
Another reason the idea of eating at a fast food place does not exlude healthy dieting is because such places have a growing selection of healthy eating menu items.
If you are health conscience, want to save money, and find yourself on the road – getting some coupons and eating at a fast food place can be a good option.
If you eat at McDonalds’ for breakfast, for example, look for a coupon to a discount on the English Muffin. With only 140 calories, 4 grams of protein, and only 2 grams of fat you have an enjoyable meal without expanding your waist size.
Instead of McDonald’s cookies or apple-pie, try a Fruit ‘n Yogurt Parfait for desert, with only 160 calories, 2 grams of fat, and 31 grams of carbohydrates.
If you are on a low carb diet then skip the soft drink, and get tea, lemonaid, or a bottle of water.
When I eat breakfast at McDonald’s, I get an order of eggs, a piece of sausage, and a bottle of water – only 1 carb total for the meal
At lunch, I enjoy the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad with only 100 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, 17 grams of protein.
Those of you who enjoy subway know that it is one of the very best fast places to eat a healthy meal served quickly.
Finding coupons for Subway is not too difficult, and the following selections all are high in protein, low in fat, and right at (or less than) 300 calories:
6-inch Turkey Breast; 6-inch Veggie Delight: 6-inch Roast Beef; 6-inch Roasted Chicken Breast, and my favorite: the 6-inch Subway Club.
My favorite fast food place for eating healthy is Arby’s. Compared to most, Arby’s is a bit more expensive and serves higher quality. That just means you need to make sure you seek out coupons for fast food places like Arbys so you can save a few dollars.
I really enjoy the Martha’s Vineyard Salad.
As you might expect, is is packed with greens, freshly grilled chicken, shredded cheese, apples, dried cranberries, almonds, tomatoes, with a spendid raspberry vinaigrette. With only 276 calories, 26 grams of protein, 24 grams of carbs, and only 8 grams of fat, this is a terrific option for eating healthy in one of the fast food places. Get yourself a coupons to one of these fast food places and enjoy.
